Aeropress Recipe by the Dutch Champ

These 3 guys (Marc-Berringe, Jeff-Caffenation and Barend-Golden Coffee Box) picked Kees Kraakman his recipe above all other.
The reason? It just gave the Colombian a cleaner and sweeter taste.
Marc and Jeff thought it was the best by far, so time to post the recipe.

Reverse the Aeropress
- 10 grams of coarse (French Press) ground
- 180 grams of water at 85 Celsius
- pour hard in the beginning to wet all the coffee
- give it a 3 minute rest
- break the crust by stirring it 3 times
- rinse the filter with warm water
- crew on the filter cap and press relatively slow in a pre warmed cup
- stop pressing just before the 'hissing' sound

I couldn't believe this man was using only 10 grams of coffee.

So I took my bag of Coffee Collective Kenya AA Top Kieni Nyeri Direct Trade to try.

I surely missed some body and depth, but the fruity acidity came out wonderfully. Maybe not the best recipe for a morning cup, but perfect for an afternoon or evening brew.
Very well done Kees. Never used such a simple and cheap Aeropress method.

Latte Art Info and BKBT Utrecht report

Esther Maasdam and Lex Wenneker were rocking at the Dutch Latte Art Championship.
In this vid you can see Lex his fabulous technique (at minute 4) and a happy Esther after winning this years title. Good luck in Maastricht Esther. We'll be there to cheer.

For those who want to know more about Latte Art ; Underneath this link we have a great Troubleshooting article from Five Senses.

At BKBT in Utrecht Sunday and Monday there was much more to witness.
Cuptasting : Sander Reuderink is the man cherry picking/selection most of our Specialty Coffees and going in style for an 8/8 in the finals and the new champ.

Aeropress CC : Winner : Kees Kraakman (he came in 2nd in Cuptasting). Friso vice champ. Bonnie from Crusio 3rd!

Brewers Cup : Winner : Frans Taapken. Friso VD Mei vice champ.

There was also a Belgian Brewers Cup Champ : Luckily a couple of Barista's/company were invited to participate and Louis, Katrien and Charlene performed really well, with Charlene winning her second title (after the AP title last month in Antwerp) in a row. Maastricht here we come!

And a fantastic Dutch Tea Champion : Kiona Malinka from Crusio (Caffenation LGB Dealer at Bergen Op Zoom).

Lots of interesting stands, lectures, classes and people to meet these two days in Utrecht. Too much and many to mention.
Hopefully a third edition in 2012. We'll be there, again.
