What About Brussels Espresso?
I travel the world to visit nice espresso bars and have no problem at all finding them.
Not so in Brussels though.
A closer investigation on the scene.
I've been reporting about a couple of bars in our capital city, underneath this link you can have a look. (Unfortunately I deleted a post about the Blomqvist bar at the Place Boniface, the best coffee effort in noticed in Brussels so far).
A couple of months a go, and also yesterday I was in Elsene/Ixelles and couldn't believe to see so many new cafés, restaurants, clothing shops, designer and flower shops, hair dressers, book shops etc....I even spotted a new cool vinoteca and groovy Fixerati garage. But a decent espresso bar? Forget about it.
I'm a hundred procent sure there is plenty of public and space for a couple of decent bars. And not only in Ixelles. Also St Gilles, around the Dansaert straat, Sablon and Brouckere I do miss good coffee. Places were people can hang out, chat, listen to funky music, read a daily paper, work on the lap top and enjoy a fresh filter cup, cappuccino or iced cold latte.
A vibrant, rich, inspiring and multi language city as Brussels need a dozen of high quality 3rd wave espresso bars.
Your question : Why aren't we starting up one ourselves?
A couple of years ago I decided to stay with our one bar, open a Coffee Roastery and help other people to start up Caffenation styled spots. One way or another it stresses me too much to have more bars and on the other hand it takes longer to change to coffee world, and that's still our ultimate goal.
We can deliver all know how necessairy, slow and fast equipment, guidance in business plans, interior and design advice; we can even deliver (trained) staff! The only thing we need is someone who loves coffee and dreams about opening their own espresso bar/coffee shop.
No, this is NOT a franchise. We deliver just the above for free with our Caffenation beans.
And no, it's not expensive at all. With a little bit of luck you can already start up a small bar for €25000, VAT included.
Drop on by our bar, or one of the bars we deliver our goodies at, and be inspired.
If you also think that 'Coffee Is The New Black'; let us make an appointment. Mail me at caffenation@gmail.com and let's change this city together.
